Welcome to the Insurance Institute of Leeds Website
I am delighted to have been elected as President of the Insurance Institute of Leeds. Being actively engaged in local institute activities since achieving Fellowship in 2001, I feel I still have a lot to give. It is a privilege to represent the Leeds insurance community and I'm really looking forward to doing my utmost in developing and promoting the good work we do here in Leeds.
Putting our customers first is what we're about and we are going to give our members a programme which provides them with real value. We will be checking on our members specific needs when putting our educational programme together and have already started to consider the idea of special interest groups, e.g. for liabilities and professional indemnity, risk management, and so on.
Promoting the great work of The Insurance Charities is also a priority. It's not just about the fundraising; we need to raise awareness and visibility of what the insurance charities is all about. I am leading this one from the front by running the Virgin London Marathon on 22nd April 2012. The Social and Charities team are organising a Race Night on 28th March; so far I've raised over £800 and I'm hoping to raise over £5000 for the insurance charities this year as a direct result of my running. We have a whole range of interesting social events coming up, including a Treasure Hunt. Our Annual Charity Golf day is being held on 18th May and it's hard to believe this event is now in its 3rd successive year. Keep your eye out for details for all our social and networking events.
As this is our 124th year, we will be ensuring we build a programme and ensure it's repeatable in our 125th year. This will allow focus on additional efforts in this special year, for which we are starting to plan now.
