Following our AGM on 18th April 2012, I am honoured to be elected as your President again for the forthcoming year 2012/13. This will be my third year as President and I hope to carry on the work we have been doing in terms of offering a varied lecture programme to our membership, doing more to include FSA members and networking more closely with local businesses. I am also very pleased to be working with Philip Tuckwood as my Deputy President.
We are very proud of our history as the fourth oldest local institute in existence and I am also delighted that we have been able to elect two new Life Vice Presidents, Allen Sweeney and Derek Cousins at the AGM. Most of you will know Allen & Derek who have been hughly supportive of the Institute for over 40 years.
Our lecture programme and social events for the next year are currently a work in progress, but you will shortly be able toview the complete Programme of Events.
If there is a topic that you would like to see included in the lecture programme or you have any other ideas for social events please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
We have a very hardworking Council assisting our 1300 members and are delighted to welcome new faces this year. Please don't hesitate to contact either myself or one of the existing Council members if you would like to become involved.
I'm looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible during my year as President and welcoming you to our Annual Dinner at Dunston Hall on 5th October 2012.
It's also an exciting year for the CII overall as it celebrates a century of professionalism after securing Chartered status in 1912. The motto "Consilium Scientia" (counsel and knowledge) is just as relevant today as it was 100 years ago.
