About this Session

The Risk of Not Offering protection

In this presentation we will help you to refresh your understanding of the importance of effective protection planning in financial advice and how this can be used effectively to help your clients. Our speaker, protection specialist Dr Kathryn Knowles, will also give participants a ‘taster’ of some of the content which is available through her training courses which could be used by planners to help provide better protection advice, and financial plans, to clients.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify ways that protection insurance fits within financial planning.
  2. Summarise the risks of avoiding protection insurance for your client and you.
  3. Describe a potential scenario, you can use with clients, to show the importance of protection.

Our Speaker

Kathryn Knowles PhD

Kathryn is Managing Director of Cura Insurance, an award winning specialist protection advice firm, and host of the Practical Protection Podcast. Kathryn also runs training for financial planners on all aspects of Protection Insurance through her training company Advice for Advisers.

Kathryn is empassioned about protection and wants to get the message out, that most people are insurable. Many of her clients have been declined cover in the past, given ridiculous terms or been told that there is no point in them applying for insurance. She hopes to raise awareness in the general public, charities and others in the insurance industry, that having a health condition, working in a dangerous job, travelling around the world, does not make a client “uninsurable”.
