09:00 - 09:15 - Welcome - Mushtaq Khan - Past President of Birmingham Law Society

Seminar Chair's Introduction - Nageena Khalique QC - No5 Chambers

Nageena Khalique QC is Deputy Head of No5 Chambers and is the Head of the Public Law Group. She specialises in healthcare and community care law, drug priorities, procurement, mental health and related human rights issues. She is also Chair of Regional CoPPA and Head of the Court of Protection Group representing both public bodies and vulnerable adults who lack capacity, in highly sensitive cases involving end of life decisions and serious medical treatment. She is Head of the Inquests, Public Inquiries & Coronial Law group and has represented a variety of pub lic bodies, coroners, families and professional individuals in complex Article 2 inquests and is a member of of the legal team representing the victims of the Birmingham Pub Bombings. Prior to Nageena being called to the Bar in 1994, she worked in the NHS as a Registrar in Maxillofacial Surgery. She has run many marathons in aid of the charity FaceFacts which she co-directs.

- Former Director of British Chamber of Commerce, and current member of the American Chamber of Commerce and Careers Company. John is part of the Vote Leave campaign.

Professor Martin Trybus
- Professor of European Law and Policy at the University of Birmingham and Director of Institute of European Law. The research of Martin Trybus aims to make a contribution to the understanding and development of the Law of the European Union, especially its economic and constitutional aspects, to establish 'European Union Defence and Security Law as a separate legal subject, and to contribute to the understanding and development of European Union Public Procurement Law.

James Carver MEP UKIP

James is one of three UKIP MEP's elected for the West Midlands in the 2014 European elections. An active Member of the European Parliament, he sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET).

10:35 - 11:00 - Fourth Speaker
Malcolm Harbour CBE

Malcolm Harbour was a Conservative MEP for the UK West Midlands from 1999 to 2014, and Chairman of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) from 2009 to 2014. He was a key player in shaping policies and legislation for the single market, manufacturing industry, the digital economy, research and consumer protection. He is now a Council Member at the University of Birmingham, Director of the Digital Policy Alliance, Senior Adviser to the European Policy Centre and to the EU policy consultants Cabinet DN. From 1967 to 1999, Malcolm was in the motor industry, starting as a Student Engineer at BMC Longbridge before working in new model development, marketing and sales, and in his own research consultancy.
