Lunchtime Lecture: Brexit and Insurance - The Roadmap Ahead

Wednesday, 08 March 2017
12:30 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)
    • Emily Huva, Solicitor, Kennedys
    • Patric Rouendaal, Parner, Kennedys

Speaker Profile:

Emily has worked in Kennedys’ burgeoning property and professional risks team in Birmingham since 2009, dealing with commercial dispute resolution and coverage issues. She deals with property damage claims and professional indemnity matters relating to solicitors, insurance brokers, architects, surveyors and accountants.

Patric provides policy advice and dispute resolution for both London market insurers and national composites on Professional Indemnity, Property and D&O. He has considerable experience in handling professional indemnity claims against solicitors, construction professionals, surveyors and accountants, relating to both regional and London-based risks.

Overview:

In December 2016, Kennedys presented the views of the insurance industry on Brexit at the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Insurance and Financial Services. The situation continues to change politically, and insurance professionals in regional and national markets are faced with the difficulty of interpreting the changing risks for their own books of business.

Learning Points:

• Gain practical tools to assess and adapt to the day-to-day changes which Brexit is likely to have on regional insurance professionals;
• Understand the implications of the recent decision from the Supreme Court ruling on triggering Article 50;
• Know what to expect as we approach the deadline for triggering Brexit at the end of March 2017.
