Our annual conference this year is moving to the prestigious ICC. We will be having a full day of interesting and educational talks on a wide variety of topical subjects.

Confirmed speakers thus far include:

  • Our opening speaker will be Jonathan de Beer who is Senior Advisor to the Director General of the ABI who leads the ABI’s work on the UK’s EU exit. He will give an overview of the industry and the ABI’s activity, an update on the implications of EU Exit for insurance, and also talk about their Helping Britain Thrive initiative which has identified the West Midlands as a key hub for insurance and long term savings
  • Dr Matthew Connell. Matthew is the Policy and Public Affairs Director at the CII. He will talk about Brexit and also talk about the elements of public trust and Brexit, as well as issues around skills and insurance.
  • Ben Fitzhugh of BLM Law. Ben is the Head of Intelligence at BLM and will talk about the use of social media in solving as well as preventing and deterring insurance fraud.
  • Jason Potter of The Insurance Fraud Bureau. Jason is the Head of Investigations at the IFB and will talk about their work and plans to help prevent insurance fraud.
  • Branko Bjelobaba. Branko will cover topical regulatory and compliance issues facing the insurance sector.
  • Barry Beard, Head of Complex Multinational and Global Services at Chubb. Barry will be talking about some of the issues, pitfalls as well as some tips in how to arrange global insurance cover and programmes. With the government encouraging businesses to find new markets outside of the EU and to trade with the world this topic should be of interest to all of the potential attendees.
  • Our closing session for the conference will be a mock trial provided by DWF Advocacy Limited. The mock trial will involve three members of DWF's Advocacy team (Barrister's) and two attendees of the conference who will be playing the claimant and defendant witnesses. It will be a mock trial for a Public Liability claim. To keep things topical the claim the subject of the trial will have a Marvel Avengers – Infinity War subtext
