Simon Dixon, ACII , Head of Sales and Business Development , Portmore Insurance Brokers.

Simon has nearly 30 years’ experience in the Insurance industry, the majority of which has been working for composite insurers across the UK. He has held a number of underwriting and leadership roles in his career and has managed some very diverse business including the Police and Fire Services, PFI’s and once insured the M25!

He has been with Portmore in Southampton for the last two years, in addition to managing his own clients; Simon is responsible for the sales and development activity for Portmore.

Simon is married with a teenage son, and in his spare time he competes in Ironman triathlon.

Event Overview:

With cyber-attacks on the rise in the UK, organisations have growing concerns heightened by media stories on high profile breaches and their consequences. These cyber risks are constantly evolving and new risks emerging. It is no longer a case of if you will suffer a breach but when and the UK has the second highest cyber incident rate in the world, second only to the USA.

Although relatively young the cyber insurance market, particularly in the UK, is evolving and we have a rapidly developing and expanding cyber risk landscape with new threats emerging daily. Cyber is a risk that is now frequently on the agenda of boards recognising this as a business performance issue rather than solely an IT problem.

Learning objectives

Our forthcoming session will aim to:-

Debunk the myths that surround cyber-attacks and associated risks.

Provide examples of attacks.

Highlight what can be done in the event of an incident and consider what is deemed best practice to prevent the attack.
