If you know someone within your organisation who is new to insurance, please pass this invitation to them. The Insurance Institute of Bristol is looking to deliver a lunchtime program aimed at those new to insurance in an effort to make them aware of the industry that they are now part of, to make connections, develop as a professional and build a career.

The sessions are to be held in the centre of town, over a lunchtime, sandwiches are provided. Please show support to your staff by encouraging them to attend, if you wish to come with them, your support would be appreciated.

This first session is designed to introduce you to other professionals in the Bristol market, the start of your professional network.

You will have heard the saying "it's not what you know, it's who you know", the honest answer is that it is a bit of both! This session is intended to introduce you to other young professionals who are, like you, just starting out. We will share some of the tips and tricks we have learnt, and show you how to make the most of the "who" you will get to know, by professional networking.

The event will also share a little about the Chartered Insurance Institute, which is where the "what" comes in as we talk about the examinations options open to you.

The "how" is where we let you practice in a controlled friendly environment some tips and tricks to make networking a little easier.

The session is intended to give you a head start and show you what a career in this exciting profession might mean for you.

Learning Objectives

  • This session will show you how to act in a professional network opportunity
  • We will look at connections, and how the less obvious links might prove beneficial, as well as profitable, to your career
  • We will give you the opportunity to find out more about the CII
  • We will show you the relevance of the CII, what it means for you and your career

The plan is to hold 2 sessions before Christmas and 2 further sessions in the new year. It is not necessary to attend every session and we can repeat them if there is sufficient demand. Everyone's training budget is under strain, the IIB are happy to support its membership by offering CPD training throughout the year, and if there are suggestions where you think we can support you and your colleagues please email emily.westacott@cii.co.uk.

Cost

Even if you or your business are not current members please come along, we are proud of what our profession offers and would like you to share in our experience. Lunch is provided, as it is for all such Continual Professional Development lunchtime events hosted by the IIB and they are free to members, we are extending the invitation to all who may be eligible, who work within the Bristol insurance sector.
