The President and Council of The Insurance Institute of Guernsey request the pleasure of your company at the Annual Dinner to take place at the Duke of Richmond Hotel on Friday 13th October 2017, 6.45pm for 7.30pm, commencing with a complimentary glass of bubbles. The bar will close at 12.45am, additional parking is available at Les Cotils.

This black tie event, as well as providing an enjoyable evening, seeks to celebrate and recognise the achievements of Chartered Insurance Institute and Personal Finance Society students. It is hoped that as many members achieving qualification will attend and that their employers will encourage attendance. The evening also seeks to raise funds for the Insurance Charities and the President's nominated local charity which, this year, is Guernsey Mind.

After dinner entertainment is to be provided by John Lenahan.

John came to Britain from his native Philadelphia for a short trip and has never quite made it back. He originally grabbed the headlines as the first person in 85 years to be expelled from the Magic Circle. The 3-card trick he exposed on How Do They Do That? is no more than a gambling con, but John took the rap and enjoyed the publicity.

He has starred in TV shows Secrets of Magic, Stuff The White Rabbit, Open Road and was the voice of the toaster in Red Dwarf. He has also made guest appearances on everything from TFI Friday to Celebrity Squares, and fronted HoaxBusters, a TV show lifting the lid on scams and hoaxes. John has performed onstage all over the world, touring alongside Jack Dee, Victoria Wood, Lenny Henry and Michael Ball.

One of the most successful corporate entertainers in the country, John has made kitchens appear, taught Bank of England staff to juggle, read thousands of minds and levitated a 20-pound Toblerone bar. He was the first person on record to perform magic live over the Internet, for BT.

The Magic Circle finally recognised their mistake and reinstated John.
