PFS Gap-fill session -
Investment Principles and Risk (Gaps 59-65)
Delivered by Jupiter Group
Tuesday 10th July // 09.00-11.00am
Royal Wells Hotel, Tunbridge Wells
FREE to PFS members
In light of FSA guidance, understanding the principles of investment planning, suitability and risk has never been more important. This gap-fill session will examine the methods for assessing the level of risk clients are 'willing and able to take', in particular making sure to take appropriate account of clients' capacity for loss as required by the FSA's guidance on assessing suitability.
The session will also go on to identify key components in building robust processes including fund selection and the importance of diversification, but challenge some of the more theory-based approaches that are on occasion out-dated and not practical for all clients in the modern world of investment. Finally, we aim to build advisers' understanding of how to review and monitor some of the new and more complex investment choices post UCITS IV legislation, which use a wider range of investment powers.
By attending this presentation advisers will have deeper knowledge in a number of key areas to enable them to support their clients. These include:
■The principles of investment planning for building robust portfolios.
■The importance and methods for assessing and monitoring client suitability and risk.
■Assessing and monitoring both conventional and more complex investment choices.
On the day registration, refreshments and bacon rolls available from 08.30
