>> Event Overview

The Personal Finance Society Hants & Dorset and Surrey Regional Committees in association with the Insurance Institutes of Bournemouth, Guildford, Reading and Southampton have organised training for those members who are studying for and taking the R06 examination.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the Regional Committees have suspended all Face to Face events for 2021 and this event will be run as an Online Distance Learning event.

The RO6 preparation day aims to increase your chances of passing the exam. This intensive workshop will work through the case studies that will be examined in the April 2021 sitting.

The exam is based on two narrative case studies that will be issued approximately two weeks before the exam. Typically one is about a couple with young children and the other is concerned with a couple in their 60s who have either retired or are on the verge of doing so. You will also be given each couple’s financial objectives.

The exam tests your ability to give advice so will cover:

  • what additional information you need to give advice
  • what options are available that would enable the client to meet their objectives
  • the advantages and disadvantages of the different options
  • what you would recommend together with a justification
  • an explanation of the product you have recommended
  • what you would discuss at a future review

The workshop will work though the case studies as a group to identify the clients' objectives, the likely questions, how they should be answered and to revise the technical points arising from these questions.

>> Learning Objectives

The RO6 preperation day aims to significantly increase your chances of passing the exam by developing an analysis of the pre-exam case studies. By the end of the event delegates will be able to:

  • analyse and understand the information contained in the case studies
  • identify the questions that could be asked in the exam
  • identify the possible solutions to the identified objectives
  • understand the technical points that are likely to be tested in the exam
  • write answers to gain maximum marks

Cost: The cost of the days training will be £49 for Hants & Dorset, Surrey and Thames Valley PFS members and £69 for all other PFS members and £79 for non-PFS members. We trust your integrity to select the correct option.
