Dear Members,
Welcome to the Insurance Institute of Jersey’s website.
The CII's prime purpose is the support of education, training and professional development in the insurance and financial services industry. As your Local Institute we are here to provide you as CII members with a useful contact point, give you access to advice on professional education, information on our programme of events and support in continuing professional development and enhancing your career through further learning.
We hope to bring you a range of diverse and exciting events throughout the year including technical training events and free lunch seminars. Please check out our events page to find out about forthcoming events.
Don’t miss our ever popular social events which include a Bowling Evening, Quiz Night, and Inter-Island Football and Netball Matches. If you are interested in playing or maybe just going along for a day out to support our teams please contact our Deputy President, Katherine Pawsey - katherine.pawsey@islandsinsurance.je
Our Chartered Centenary annual dinner will be held on the 28th September at the Grand Jersey Hotel. Please place the date in your diary as we look forward to welcoming as many members as possible to help join in the celebrations! To enquire about tickets please email myself - gary.derrien@islandsinsurance.je
The Insurance Charities is an important part of the institute and we are committed to raising funds to acknowledge the wonderful work The Insurance Charities does in helping both past and present insurance employees who suffer financial hardship.
My chosen charity for my year of office is NSPCC Jersey www.nspcc.org.uk The NSPCC protects children from cruelty across the UK and the Channel Islands. They run a wide range of services for both children and adults, including national helplines and local projects. At the NSPCC Jersey Pathway Centre in St Clement, NSPCC staff provide a variety of universal drop-in services to support local families. Both charities will be supported during my term of office.
Our present Council is a small but enthusiastic team, made up of volunteers who are committed to ensuring that all our members obtain real value out of their membership. To deliver this service well, our Institute is aiming to grow a diverse representative Council team in assisting with member needs.
We are therefore keen to encourage new members of all ages and industry experience, to join our Council. Commitment can be as much or as little you wish, but most importantly you can directly influence the way our Council interacts with its members, and the support it gives to our local insurance community. Please contact me should you wish to learn more about becoming a Council member.
I hope you find the website contents both useful and interesting and I look forward to meeting with you at events throughout the year.
Kind Regards
Gary Derrien FCII
President of The Insurance Institute of Jersey
