Meet Holly Copsey - our Deputy President for 2021/22

The institute has great pleasure in confirming Holly Copsey as Deputy President for the current term. She will be supporting Melanie Jordan as President, and told us a bit about herself:

"I am delighted to be taking on the role of deputy president this year and starting my term as president in March 2022, subject to being elected.

"A career in insurance … not something we say we want to be when we grow up. A firefighter, detective or astronaut sound much more appealing! Insurance for me wasn’t a job I went looking for but after some time it has become an excellent career choice with many opportunities.

"I started my career at Jelf Insurance Partnership, then moved to Henderson Insurance Brokers Ltd, prior to their acquisition by Aon UK Ltd. Right now I am a broking manager for the Tingley branch of the organisation, having been promoted internally from a broking role.

"Through my various roles I have gained expertise in corporate broking solutions including Management Liability, Professional Indemnity and Cyber across varying sectors but specialising in Technology, Media, Architects and Construction.

"My interest in technology and media risks led to me being appointed as the office Cyber champion. I also sit on Aon’s ‘Nexco Community’, which is aimed at building a pipeline of next generation talent and influence across Aon in the UK.

"Previously I was a council member of the Insurance Institute of Hull after being awarded their Young Achievers Award 2016/17 Highly Commended prize. I joined the Insurance Institute of Leeds Council in May 2018.

"Since joining Leeds institute I have played a key role on the Emerging Insurance Professionals, starting as the Social Team Leader and now taking the position of Chair for the 2021-2022 period.

"I joined the Emerging Insurance Professionals to provide support and create a network for other young professionals at the early stages of their insurance careers. I wanted to help facilitate networking and educational opportunities for young professionals.

"In my career I have been very fortunate to have benefitted from help and training from many experienced people, which has inspired me to do better and take on this role. As the youngest ever Leeds President elect (exciting and scary!) I want to use my time to educate younger people about how great a career in insurance can be.

"In my free time I enjoy socialising with friends and keeping fit - at the gym, at bootcamps and walking."
