State of the Nation: a high level overview of Pensions and recent changes

Time: Registration and lunch: 12:30pm, Lecture: 1pm-2pm

This lecture will be an overview of State Pensions including the recent Cridlaw review, details of how auto-enrolment has worked well so far as well as the fines doled out by The Pensions Regulator and a 'top 5' potential pensions taxation changes that Royal London think the Treasury might consider announcing in the Autumn Statement. It will also briefly cover the Annual and Lifetime allowance, the new LISA and pension freedoms. It's designed to give a high level overview of pensions and the opportunities it presents to advisers.

Learning objectives
By the end of this lecture, delegates will be able to identify:
- the key changes to pensions in 2016 and the ongoing effect on advice
- the changes likely to happen in 2017
- the opportunities that these changes bring

Speaker's Biography
Jamie specialises in workplace pensions and is a self-confessed 'pensions geek' with more than 28 years’ experience in the pensions industry. Jamie is tasked with assessing the impact of legislative and regulatory change on the industry, focusing on how it affects advisers.

He spends most of his time out on the road delivering technical presentations to hundreds of advisers and other professionals about how they can best adapt to make the most of an ever changing pensions landscape. He also takes a role in developing Royal London's strategy as well as writing blogs and articles for the financial press as an industry commentator and thought leader on all things pensions.
