This session will cover the practical issues of disclosure and privilege including how better support the Risk around document management.

Learning objectives
By the end of the session the delegate will be able to:
1. Understand the concept of privilege and why it exists - basic principles
2. Consider when documents are routinely generated but may be potentially sensitive in a litigation and claims context
3. Explore who might be a stakeholder in the document creation and management process
4. Define the key questions that will determine the nature of a document and whether privilege attaches
5. Review practical strategies to build in the protection that may be available

Speaker Biography
Chris is a litigation specialist within the insurance disputes practise at Mills & Reeve, resolving complex and high value injury and property claims, usually acting for insurers or directly for corporate clients who have a direct financial interest in their claims experience. Chris also protects businesses and individuals facing investigation by the police or HSE, helping them avoid or minimise any regulatory sanction. Chris is an active member of The Chartered Insurance Institute and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, providing training and other support, particularly to the North West local insurance institutes.
