Major incident response management - the dos and don’ts

Racquet Club
Tuesday, 08 November 2016
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm (UK time)

Presented by: Dewi Ap-Thomas of Weightmans LLP

Event Overview
We all know of the Hillsborough, Buncefield and Alton Towers; but “major incident” means different things to different people.
What about the smaller operations who have a death in their store, or one of their drivers is involved in a fatal road traffic collision or a scaffolding collapse injuring members of the public?
This session will walk through the aftermath of a major incident or crisis, offering practical tips and do’s and don’ts to protect the organisation’s position in law, whilst understanding and engaging with the various stakeholders that became involved in the wake of a major incident.

Learning objectives
By the end of the session the delegate will be able to:
1. The “Golden Hour” – understand and navigate your way through it
2. Identify the stakeholders that are/will become involved post incident – how to engage with them
3. Prepare for the unthinkable – the crisis management policy
4. Review practical strategies to build in the legal protection that may be available
5. Prevent a recurrence - learning from what has happened
