Summary & Learning Objectives
In this session we will explore the Defined Benefit (DB) landscape and the current challenges for offering advice in this area. We will discuss the mechanics behind how Defined Benefit schemes work, the key considerations for transfers and signpost useful reference material to assist with suitability.

The learning objectives are:

• understand the DB pension market background & current regulatory position
• understand what the requirements are to advise on DB transfers
• understand the transfer process
• understand how DB schemes calculate a Cash Equivalent Transfer Value
• explain the purpose of a transfer analysis and critical yields
• increase awareness of helpful material regarding suitability

Target Audience
The content and delivery of the session is designed so that it serves as a useful refresher for Financial Planners and Paraplanners who are experienced in DB Transfer Advice and also to help Financial Planners and Paraplanners who are less experienced but wish to increase their knowledge in this area.
About the speaker:
Richard Evans – FPFS, IMC, Chartered Financial Planner - Intermediary Development Manager, MetLife
Richard has 27 years industry service having spent most of his career with Aviva. He has a wealth of experience in adviser facing senior roles including Pensions Technical Manager, Regional Manager and National Account Manager. Having joined MetLife in 2016, Richard supports their intermediary distribution teams through insightful and thought provoking presentations to the adviser community.
