The two major UK insurance company failures of recent times have been Independent Insurance and Equitable Life and in both cases considerable blame can be laid at the door of the Board. Alan will examine how this happened and what lessons must be learnt. Alan will also look at AIG and the continuing saga.

Professor Alan Punter BTech, MSc, PhD, MBA, ARM, ARe, MIRM - co-author of the AIRMIC research report "Roads to Ruin", which investigated the origins and impact of over twenty major corporate crises of the last decade. Until taking retirement, Alan was Managing Director of the Chairman’s Office at AON.
