This webinar is suitable for all job roles within insurance and may be particularly helpful to those studying, or who intend to study, a law or liability based insurance subject.

All too often we overthink principles of tort law and we get confused by the raft of cases that exist in this area of law. In turn, we confuse ourselves and our customers in the way we explain and apply those principles of law. In this session, we will strip the law of torts back to basics and demistify the confusion. We will learn how to explain the law in a simple and clear way and how to apply the case law to real-life scenarios. Areas that we will examine will include
• Negligence: the duty of care, breach of duty,
• causation and remoteness
• Occupiers’ liability
• Employers’ liability
• General defences and remedies in the law of torts

Learning objectives:
By the end of the seminar, participants will be able to:
• recognise the key legal principles of the law of torts typically encountered by those involved in in the insurance and financial services industries.
• understand the practical application of the key principles of law and how case law can be used to persuade a third party or a customer.
• identify areas of the law of torts that are particularly contentious and how to develop arguments when dealing with cases where these areas may arise.
