Kent Regional Conference 2022: Embracing a Challenging World

In its ninth year the Kent Regional Conference organised by Mid Kent & Royal Tunbridge Wells institutes held in Maidstone in April was certainly thought provoking and topical under its theme Embracing a Challenging World.

A variety of subject matters were covered and Chaired by Ray Johnson. To set off, a joint panel was held providing an overview of current market issues by Peter Blanc, Aston Lark & President of CII, Matthew Connell, CII and Mike Crane, LV which certainly focused on the need for the sector to adapt and change particularly customer perceptions along with many other opportunities for those in the industry.

An in-depth understanding of claims followed by Jeremy Trott, Ecclesiastical and some powerful tips on imposter syndrome and resilience was performed by both David & Susan Walbrook, Creative Space Coaching. An insight into the world of insuring risks in Space was impeccably carried off by Tim Wakeman, Marsh and an equally an engaging session by Susan Carey, Kent County Council in relation to the Kent environment to understand the work and progress carried out in the county.

A final session on overcoming adversity rounded off by the remarkable Claire Lomas MBE who shared her journey of life changes and how she overcame so many challenges and fundraising.

The event was also supported by Allianz, Aston Lark, Flint Insurance, Sutton Winson & City Underwriting.

Ray Johnson commented:

‘Delegates were so pleased to be back at this popular event and I do believe we had the most engaging and open crowd to date which was certainly attributed by the presenters enthusiasm and skill of connecting so well. We enjoyed a varied programme if not a little quirky this year and it was nice the delegates also had plenty of valuable takeaways. There was also useful networking and team building from the enthusiastic crowd. The delivery of punchy, topical and informative subjects that create debate and engagement within the sector can be a challenge but this one certainly delivered validated by the superb feedback. He summed up with clearly those who embrace change, adapt, listen, learn and be creative will be the winners.’
