Annual Dinner - FULLY BOOKED

Be sure to get your tickets to be entertained at our Annual Dinner by Simon Evans, a very funny comedian, who's CV includes Michael McIntyre Roadshow, Live at the Apollo, Mock the week, and the news quiz on radio 4.

The annual North Downs Insurance Institute Dinner was held on Friday 2nd March at the recently refurbished De Vere Selsdon Estate hotel in South Croydon. Despite the treacherous weather conditions, the event was well attended with over 200 seats sold. As well as an excellent three course meal, guests were treated to a fantastic performance by renowned stand-up comedian Simon Evans (who has previously appeared on Mock the Week and Live At The Apollo) which was filled with anecdotes, gags and felicitous life advice. The President of the NDII, Sue McCall, gave a thought-provoking speech centering on diversity and inclusion and emphasising the importance of communication between local employers and the NDII Council, with the aim of further improving the events, education and opportunities provided in the area. The raffle, auction and 'Heads or Tails' party game were a great success, raising £1,600, split 50/50 between The Insurance Charities, and our President's chosen charity, Chestnut Tree Hospice - enormous thanks must go to all the sponsors (Pavilion Recruitment, Zurich Insurance, Aspen Risk Management, Coversure Croydon, Grout Insurance, Tesco Underwriting and De Vere Selsdon) for their generosity. Following the meal, attendees were able to party the night away in a disco bar and discuss insurance (and possibly some less exciting topics!) until the early hours. Feedback from the dinner has been resoundingly positive - a brilliant night was had by all and we have already had a number of requests for invitations next year! Special thanks must go to the NDII Dinner Secretary, Maria Self, for her outstanding efforts in organising such a wonderful event.
