Our Role

Helping to develop and enhance your career in insurance and financial services.

When you become a member of the CII or PFS, you automatically join a local institute of your choice, usually close to where you live or work.  

There are currently 60 local institutes across the UK and the Insurance Institute of Northampton has just over 700 members.

We are a dedicated group of industry professionals that voluntarily give up our spare time to offer a range of key benefits to CII members in the local area.

We currently provide:

• Technical and regulatory seminars, and training courses

• Career guidance, mentoring and knowledge services

• Social and networking activities

• Community engagement initiatives

• Local news and information

During the last 12 months, the number of members attending our events has increased due to an innovative and creative programme of social and insurance related subjects.  Topics covered have included such wide ranging issues as regulatory changes, risk management, business continuity, exam preparation, marketing. Check the CPD page for future events. 

A strong council is driving a concerted effort to identify the needs of local employers and individuals within the insurance community in order to provide the support which is needed.

There is also an increasingly active Young Members' Group which aims to provide a variety of interesting social events for the "young at heart", which includes many of us who either admit to, or are attempting to conceal, grey hair!

We also provide an examination centre which allows those from a wide geographical area to sit exams for the CII, including the Certificate in Financial Planning.
