The next IIPB Seminar will be a session with Michael Boyd from NMU to discuss Marine Insurance delving into Cover, Claims and Institute Clauses.

Marine Insurance can be a tricky market, especially with the Cargo Clauses in mind. This seminar has been arranged to help highlight the Marine Market provide an overall overview. The speaker will discuss and explain certain loss examples and trends in the market and will help to dissect the many Cargo Clauses that can be found in the wordings. Finally, the seminar will involve a section on ‘Incoterms’ – understanding when dealing with your clients and overcoming common misconceptions.

Michael Boyd - Speaker Bio

Michael began working in the Marine Insurance Industry in 2002 with NMU, starting out in the claims department for the first 4 years before moving to Underwriting – it is said to become a truly good Underwriter you must first understand where the claims come from!

So Michael brings with him a wealth of 18 years’ experience within the Marine Insurance Industry.

Michael recently finished his two year role as Chairman of the Manchester Marine Insurance Association, one of the oldest associations around.

In more recent years Michael focuses on Underwriting of New Cargo and Freight Liability business along with managing Broker relationships and promoting all of NMU’s Specialty lines.
