The charity and community market in the UK is extremely large with around 180,000 registered charities in England and Wales alone and is made up of an incredibly diverse range of organisations.

The first section of the seminar will explore the scale of the market, the different types of organisations that make up the sector and the broad range of activities that charity and community organisations are involved in.

In the second part of the seminar we will consider two important areas for insurers and brokers when dealing with many charity and community organisations. We will explore some of the issues relating to safeguarding and abuse of vulnerable persons including an overview of recent developments in case law, policy coverage and the challenge for insurers. We will also consider the different ways that fundraising is undertaken through the organisation of events, with specific reference to extra hazardous activities and the use of third party specialist contractors.
