Types of Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships in Providing Financial Services
The Apprenticeship in Providing Financial Services is available at both levels 2 and 3 (level 3 being the Advanced Apprenticeship).
The level 2 framework includes the CII’s IF1 module as well as key skills and competence components (NVQ) and should take between 6-12 months to complete. Those who have completed the Apprenticeship in Providing Financial Services can progress to the Advanced Apprenticeship in Providing Financial Services.
The level 3 framework includes one of the CII’s Certificate qualifications as its technical element. In this framework there are two rather than three IF units, and the NVQ provides the credits for learners to complete their Certificate qualification. This should take 12-18 months to complete. There are a number of pathways an Apprentice can take:
- Insurance (Cert CII)
- Long Term Insurance (Cert FA)
- Pension Administration (Cert FA)
- Providing Advice for Retirement (Cert FP)
Apprenticeships in Advising on Financial Products
The Advanced Apprenticeship in Advising on Financial Products is a level 3 programme and Apprentices can follow one of three pathways:
- financial planning;
- mortgage advice;
- long term care insurance (Leads to Cert FA).
All three pathways lead to a CII Certificate-level qualification (such as Certificate in Financial Planning), along with a BTEC Award and Key Skills qualifications. This Advanced Apprenticeship should take 12-24 months to complete.
