Overview:

The increase in use of conditions and conditions precedent in some areas of the market may suggest an attempt by insurers to return to the days before the Insurance Act, when breaches automatically resulted in policy avoidance. How can you recognise such conditions and what can be done about them?

Objectives:

  • Understand the difference between bare Conditions and Conditions Precedent
  • Be aware of the impact of conditions defining the risk as a whole
  • Know the permitted remedies for breaches of conditions under the Insurance Act 2015

About the Speaker:

Jim Dart is a career insurance professional, having spent more than 46 years as a broker, an underwriter in the Lloyd’s market, within a composite insurer’s claims team and, for the past 20+ years in regulatory compliance, where he is Managing Director of dart Compliance, a specialist General Insurance compliance consultancy.

He is a Chartered member of the CISI and holds the International Advanced Certificate in Regulatory Compliance from the International Compliance Association
