About this Session

The growth of renewables and the challenges for industry are an increasing demand on the expertise of the Insurance Market and its service providers, especially in respect to claims management and the preventative measures, we look at evaluating some of the risks to better enable your understanding.

We will focus on giving an introductory perspective to some of the faults experienced predominantly in Wind harnessed and Solar energy.

The session will be interactive with case studies and footage of scenes. We encourage questions and queries as they help everyone’s learning and understanding.

1) Understand that International standards and local regulations need to keep up with latest developments and advancements.

2) Understand how risk can be minimised by good system design, component selection and installation practices.

3) Understanding the trends in losses observed in renewables and how these can be mitigated.

Speaker Bio - Paul McGonagle, CEng, MIET

A chartered Electrical Engineer, with over 30 years of experience in the Power and Energy sectors. His focus has been renewable energy, where his work with government on strategy and policy helped establish a roadmap for renewable industry in the UK. As an Independent Engineer (IE), he has conducted extensive technical due-diligence audits for investors, lenders, operators and owners. He identifies and mitigates the risks of a renewable energy project, particularly the generation equipment, necessary permits, yield studies and compliance with network codes.
