2017 Bolton University Careers Fair

Our second careers committee event was the annual careers fair at Bolton University. Fresh from our success last month Paul Taylor and I were keen to get talking to the students (and the free lunch didn't go down too badly either!!).

Throughout the 3 hour event we spoke to over 50 students who were on a variety of courses - from psychology to law – with our main focus being to raise awareness of the huge range of opportunities available in our industry and bring to life the variety of roles we have to offer. We had the odd person who was simply after one of the free pens but we felt we had really made an impression on a good number of people, helping them to understand that the insurance industry is a sector to seriously consider as they come to the end of their studies.

The one thing we found all the students had in common was that earning potential was a key factor when looking at their options.

We took the opportunity to wander round some of the other stands to see how they were set up. We're now armed with some more ideas to expand on what we’ve achieved this year and push forward in 2018.

In addition to this, the connection we have begun to forge with staff at the university is an important one which we hope to build on in the future
