Kataholos Public Speaking

I recently joined the Insurance Institute of Bolton, with the view to progressing my personal development and maybe one day becoming President. Members of our council were recently given the opportunity to attend a virtual public speaking course to improve individuals confidence in this area. I thought this course was something that I could truly benefit from, as I don’t have a great deal of public speaking experience and don’t always feel comfortable speaking in front of high numbers of people. I was right, it really was a fantastic virtual course, that 3 members of our council benefited from.

The coach, Michael Quigley was an enthusiastic and engaging character; he has such a passion to help and support others which really shone through during his Public Speaking Course. He explained the structure of writing a public speech, but also how to feel comfortable presenting it and overcoming that initial stage fright. One thing really did strike me and now I look at public speaking in a completely different way; it’s not just speaking in public and on a stage, it is how you carry yourself daily, how you interact one-on-one and even how you come across on a call, or the way you word your email. Most importantly the art relates to self-belief.

This is something which I will continue to work on in my professional and personal environments, and I must say that the course was brilliant and very informative, packed full of knowledge, experience, hints and tips that I will now use daily and take forward with me.
