Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar attendees will understand:

  • how inflation for buildings, contents and machinery has impacted reserving and how adjusters should factor this in when reporting to insurers

  • how the landscape has changed in terms of unoccupied property levels/cover and how this is affecting the type of property claims being made

  • the pitfalls and trends in fraudulent activity and the challenges around dealing with such claims for unoccupied properties

About our Speakers

Paul Redington BA (Hons) ACII Chartered Insurer
Regional Major Loss Property Claims Lead, Zurich

Paul has been a key member of Zurich’s Property Major Loss Team since 2010, having previously worked at AIG. In his hands-on role, he provides rapid response to large-scale property claims, including major fires, floods, and explosions. Paul is often on-site, directly supporting customers in their time of need.

Mike McLean FCII FCILA FUEDI-ELAE
Regional Director, Major & Complex Loss Team – Global Technical Services UK, Crawford & Company

A highly regarded contributor to CILA, Mike has extensive experience in major loss claims. His career spans leadership roles at Cunningham Lindsey and Sedgwick before joining Crawford & Company, where he continues to be a key figure in complex loss adjusting.

Toby Knight FCII FCILA FIFAA
Property Practices Director, McLarens

With over 30 years in the claims industry—25 of which have been in loss adjusting—Toby is a seasoned expert in property claims. Holding Fellowship status with both the CII and CILA, he also serves as Chairman of the CILA Property Special Interest Group.

Michelle Haynes BA (Hons) ACII FCILA
Graduate & Capability Lead | UK & I GI, Aviva

Michelle is an experienced leader in the commercial property sector, having worked across both adjusting firms and insurance companies. Currently a Commercial Property Consultant Lead at Aviva, she also chairs Women in CILA, driving initiatives to support and empower female professionals in the industry.

Brendan Gillooly ACFS DipFSP
Head of Investigation, McLarens

Brendan has over 20 years of experience in claims investigation across insurers and adjusting firms. An Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist, he has a strong background in forensic psychology, behavioural evidence analysis, and criminal profiling, bringing a unique investigative approach to major claims.
