Cyber policies are unusual and contain a mix of covers, this session will take a look at what is typically covered and how policy response looks from the perspective of a leading breach response counsel team. It will also discuss common issues in practice for Insureds (and Insurers) and look at potential points for the future.

About the Speaker
Justin specialises in responding to data incidents of all types, the defence of claims raising data protection and privacy issues and giving insurance policy coverage advice.
He has over 31 years’ experience advising clients across a range of sectors including professional advisory, financial services, construction, infrastructure, retail, local authorities, education and health service providers. His key clients include insurers and their insureds as well as the public bodies and corporate clients of the firm who face data and cyber risks.
Justin helps clients to manage data incidents successfully and resolve claims. Activities include urgently responding to data incidents, giving advice on privacy law, data protection and regulatory issues and the defence of claims. With a background in insurance law and the defence of claims Justin looks for commercial and pragmatic solutions. Being able to handle complex or sensitive matters Justin leads teams or manages junior lawyers to deliver cost effective solutions.
Justin is recognised by Chambers and Partners as a lawyer to watch. “An impressed interviewee reports: “It was clear that he knew the case inside out.” Justin spoke at the September 2023 Zywave Cyber Risks Insight conference in New York. In addition Justin has recorded a webinar for LexisNexis on cyber insurance, has been interviewed on TalkRadio about data protection and cyber incidents and contributed to Insurance Times coverage.
