The event will be presented by Patrick Kennedy from Canada Life.

Course Overview

The seminar will cover the following items:

  • Intro to IHT - not really trust related but could be a useful refresher
  • Order of gifting , including the 14 year shadow - no looking at trusts in depth but rather the interaction between PETs and CLTs
  • Best of both worlds … covering gift and loan, discounted gift and WPT
  • Periodic and exit charges and how these can impact different types of trusts
  • Two lump sum gifting ideas - WPT and CAA
  • Second marriages - this focuses on people with children from previous relationships and using trusts, incl WPT

Speaker - Patrick Kennedy - Canada Life

With over 25 years experience, Patrick has worked in both professional adviser and provider marketplaces. This has included working within a pensioneer trustee practice and as a technical officer for a Mutual Assurance Society focused on solving IHT case scenarios, particularly from a tax and trust perspective. He is a Chartered Financial Planner.
