PRESIDENT'S JULY MESSAGE

Here is my monthly message of reflections and looking ahead to what IICG has in store.

We held 4 webinars in June on a real variety of topics. I was pleased Kay Morgan could complete another one of her Mental Health Wellness sessions . This was the event we had to cancel at Kingsholm in mid March on the day it was due to happen. Your feedback was terrific as it was for all events. Thankyou. Over 250 members benefited in June events. Everyone now seems to have the Zoom app at last!

We have 3 planned sessions in July with over 200 bookings already. We think we will get a 4th booked being the FCA BI court review to date; am sure that will prove popular…

We were pleased to support the Insurance Charities Awareness Day on the 24th June. This proved an effective social media campaign. This is of course a 365 days a year awareness challenge our industry faces. I hope you can continue to direct colleagues to the charity.

We will soon be making decisions on how the rest of the 2020 year will be playing out in terms of CPD, Social and Dinner offerings and how realistic it will be to meet face to face. CII have provided us some highly recommended thinking but I will take soundings from my team to see what they want to do. Rest assured will keep you informed but the offerings will keep coming in one way shape or form.

We remain in exam mode and I hope you have all seen the very latest information.

Here is the link for students on how the next few months will play out and the format and technology utilised. https://www.knowhow.cii.co.uk/news/2020/exam-centre-changes-2020/

This means at a local level we will no longer have responsibility for directly arranging exam centres, the examination process and arranging invigilators.

We will get a proper chance to thank Steph Wilton for her tireless and passionate efforts in helping hundreds of students (hopefully from 1m in a wine bar asap) but in the meantime thankyou so much Steph. Thankyou to our invigilators over the years for your dedicated work and time spent. We will be inviting our regulars to join us at the planned Student Awards presentation when it is safe to arrange such an event

Am off now to do Gloucester 10k (virtual event) Very poor return of 81 miles in June but edging toward the 2000 miles for 2000 members charity target (good job I did a 2 year term) Will get there!

Ok,bon voyage and speak soon

Very best wishes

Simon
