PRESIDENT'S JUNE MESSAGE AND A CPD WEBINAR BOOKING!

I wanted to give you an update on what we have been doing and what is planned via my monthly message as I start Year 2 of my term.

Since the AGM on 30th April the first meetings of the IIC&G main council and New Gen council have taken place from home and went really well.
Great to hear our sub team leaders talking through the opportunities and challenges of being a virtual institute for potentially the next 3-6 months.

Thanks to the contributions from our Treasury, Education, Charity, Social, Exam, Regional, Dinner and New Gen leaders.

Some specifics:

1. 4 CPD webinars in May across technical, revision and human communication and leadership topics saw 200 bookings and the introduction of 2 brand new speakers to IICG.

2. The first 2 events for June and have attracted 175 bookings between them and we are today launching a new event for June 11th which can be booked via https://cms.localinstitutes.cii.co.uk/cheltenham-gloucester/home/events/2020/cpd-webinar-the-perfect-storm-how-capacity-is-disappearing-fast-from-the-uk-insurance-market/

We are doing a great job in CPD looking to keep the content varied and online for the time being, get presentations to you in advance to enjoy and you will be pleased the survey will no longer ask you for marks on food & drink and venue!

3. We are still planning to host external events from September onwards in the form of the Quiz night,Charity Golf Day and Annual Dinner but will clearly keep you in touch on these plans.

4. One social event for February 2021 that has also sold well is School of Rock. Remaining tickets are available at the IICG website.

5. Our first year fundraising for Cheltenham Animal Shelter is over and the £2750 has been paid over. Thankyou so much. We are starting again but will also do more ad hoc charity and community work where we can as many groups need as much help as possible.

6. 24th June sees the Insurance Charities Awareness Day. A separate note will follow on that as we look to raise AWARENESS of this terrifically important charity which helps colleagues, old and young, past and present. The current and future economic climate is vastly uncertain so the charity will play a vital role in future times.

7. I am aware continued guidance is sought for those taking PFS and CII exams. We will clearly keep you in touch as it looks like it will be moving to remote invigilation in coming weeks. I hope it is not proving too much of a distraction. I know we have not delivered on PFS revision directly as a LI
but the current climate may be the chance to instigate revision workshops on line so please let me know where the demand is.

I think that's plenty for now! Off for a run now. I managed 108 miles in May so a good start to Year 2 as I aim for 2000 miles (technically 2012 now as 12 new members) I hope you are staying fit and healthy too.

Speak soon

Best wishes

Simon
