PRESIDENT'S OCTOBER MESSAGE

IICG MEMBERS TAKING CII and PFS EXAMS: We are aware that the new test centre for the multiple choice exams has not yet been allocated by CII in our area. It is essential members have clarity and peace of mind when booking in times and dates. Please do make these reassuring messages to members in your work groups but also do feedback any concerns or stories you have. I have been assured by Tony Ward,Customer Services Director CII,that at least 2 centres in the C&G will appear soon on your exam booking options. Currently Bristol is the nearest followed by Cardiff and Oxford. Remote invigilation is also an increasingly popular option

BETTER NEWS! At our 2019/2020 Local Institute performance assessment, we scored 100% with 180/180 for the Presidential year. Massive well done and thankyou to the whole group, richly deserved.

The COVID 19 uncertainty is clearly still with us. Knock on effect for dinners, social events is still visible. We won’t be offering the pantomime or the School of Rock events . Please do continue to suggest ideas you see not just around other institutes but business and organizations generally who are finding new ways to present team building/social get togethers

CPD. We have some terrific sessions booked in between now and year end. New topics, new speakers and in September we released 1 CPD event every day for a week to get real focus after the August break. Booking numbers seem strong. Lots of webinars for you to book onto at https://cms.localinstitutes.cii.co.uk/cheltenham-gloucester/home/events/forthcoming-events/

QUIZ. Congratulations to Team Harriet and Rosco from our friends at Cheltenham Animal Shelter who were crowned IICG quiz champions for 2020 last Thursday. Thankyou to everyone who took part, donated and to our quiz master Tim Chandler. Rosco did particularly well in the music round and is pictured below.

CHARITY WALK 3 Peaks (Cheltenham) All done on the 5th September. 22 miles in 8 hours 40 mins so nice and easy! Thankyou Chelsea, Zoe, Zofia and Kamila for joining me and cannot wait for next year!

The 2 events above raised £500 so we are now at £3700 in funds raised for the Animal Shelter despite losing our 2 biggest fundraisers this year being the Dinner and Golf Day. Thankyou so much

I know a lot of fatigue is out there and a desire to return to complete normality exists so IICG will always look to help if you are struggling in any way and I would direct you, colleagues (past and present) to The Insurance Charities as a strong starting point https://www.theinsurancecharities.org.uk/

Have a great month and good luck to all in your October exams

Best wishes

Simon
