6:00 pm – 1:00 am (UK time)

The Insurance Institute of Cheltenham and Gloucester

On behalf of the President of the Insurance Institute of Cheltenham and Gloucester, Simon McGill, we are delighted to announce that our 2021 dinner will take place on Friday 23rd April. We have exciting entertainment planned.

Venue

Manor by The Lake Hatherley Lane, Cheltenham, GL51 6PN Reception from 6.30pm, 3 Course dinner served from 7.30pm. This is a black tie event. Set in seven acres of award-winning gardens, Manor by the Lake is an exquisite Victorian mansion located in the heart of Cheltenham Spa. Combining classic elegance with modern comforts, it’s an exceptionally stylish, picture-perfect venue.

Guest Speaker

Jamie McDonald (Adventureman) If anybody holds the secret to resilience, it’s Adventureman. Having overcome debilitating childhood illnesses to conquer monumental challenges in a bid to give back to those that helped him, the real-life superhero knows what it means to keep going against the odds. His challenges include having cycled 14,000 miles around the world on a rusty old push bike and a 210 solo marathon challenge across America. If that wasn’t enough, Jamie is also the owner of two of the toughest and most grueling endurance Guinness World Records on the planet.

Entertainment

Tommy and the Fuse Playing us out until 1am! Tommy and the Fuse is a very popular, Gloucestershire-based band comprising of a group of versatile musicians, each with a fantastic reputation in the live music circuit. Supporting Sir Elton John and Lionel Richie at their Kingsholm concerts, their individual talents are ‘fused’ together with each member leading, depending on the style of each track. This gives the band a wide and varied repertoire through the decades to today’s contemporary hits.

Gloucester Choral Society

GCS is a quality 150-strong choir based at Gloucester Cathedral (on the night the group is a subset of the full choir). The image is one of them at their concerts, all staged in the wonderful cathedral. 2020 is special as it’s their 175th anniversary and they celebrate with a gala concert on 2nd May. Charity

As is customary, part of Simon’s role as President has a focus towards fundraising, raising awareness and volunteering for a selected charity. This year’s charity is the Cheltenham Animal Shelter.

Cheltenham Animal Shelter is a charity that has been helping animals since 1926. They provide shelter for homeless cats, dogs and small pets. Each year they help around 1000 animals who need support, care and treatment at a cost of approx £650,000 without the help of any Government or Lottery funding.

Simon has 2 terriers of his own; life wouldn't be the same without them both, so he has been aiming to walk and run 2000 miles this year for our 2000 member to raise money and awareness.

Donations can made at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/simonmcgill51 where you can also find updates and photos. Thankyou in advance of your help.

On the evening, funds raised will be distributed between Cheltenham Animal Shelter, Jamie’s Adventureman charity and The Insurance Charities Society. If you would like to provide charity raffle/auction prizes, please do contact us.
