Lewys Curteis, Robert Hunschok and Rachel from Barnett Waddingham

'The Current UK DB Transfer Market’

In the first part of this presentation, Lewys will outline the ways Barnett Waddingham's Corporate Consulting team helps employers to reduce risk and cost by communicating retirement options with members. In the second half, Robert and Rachel will focus on the reasons why a DB transfer may be suitable for an individual and finally, give an overview of their Flexible SIPP.

- 2nd speaker:

Mike Appleby, Fund Manager at Liontrust Asset Management

Mike started his career in investments in 1992 moving to Liontrust in April 2017. He has been involved in running Sustainable Future funds since 2004 when he joined Aviva Investors as a Research Analyst on this team. He was a Fund Manager from 2006 to 2010 until being appointed as Head of SRI Thematic Research.

Mike is responsible for the generation and integration of Sustainable Investment research into the portfolios. He’s attained an MSc in Environmental Management at Imperial College and holds a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from the University of Edinburgh and the CFA Society of the UK Investment Management Certificate (IMC).

- 3rd speaker:

Andrew Pirrie, Product Specialist at GAM Systematic's Cantab Team

Andrew previously held the same role at Cantab Capital Partners, which became part of GAM Systematic in October 2016. Andrew has expertise in the range of systematic investment programmes and acts as the primary conduit between the funds and their investors.

He is responsible for global business development and investor-focused activities. Andrew is a CAIA Charterholder and holds a BA from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.

'The Systematic Space Demystified'

In his session Andrew will Introduce GAM Systematic and detail systematic investing vs. other investment strategies as well as the evolution of the Systematic Landscape and common features, benefits and examples of systematic investment strategies

- 4th speaker:

Peter Brooks, Barclays Wealth & Investment Management

Peter Brooks leads the practical applications of behavioural finance for both advised and self-directed investors. He focuses on how individuals can be helped to make better financial decisions through technology or processes.

Peter has conducted much research on how investor attitudes are affected by prevailing market conditions. He frequently shares these insights with the leading industry publications. He holds a M.Sc. in Economics and Econometrics, and a Ph.D. in Behavioural and Experimental Economics, from the University of Manchester.

'How to use behavioural finance to be a better investor and adviser'

The importance of understanding investors is an important part of regulation. However, advisers often recognise that investors exhibit irrational behaviour. Behavioural Finance uses insights from finance theory, economics, and psychology to understand how people make their financial decisions. This presentation will explore the mistakes that investors commonly make, how costly those decisions are, and how advisers can use this knowledge to manage investor behaviour.
