Review of the year 2014/2015

Here is a review of what your institute has been doing during the latest presidential year. We are grateful to all speakers for their time and knowledge, and to the CII for sponsoring several of these events. Each of these sessions affords 1hour of CPD credit, provided it is relevant to the professional development of the attendee. All of these events have been well attended and feedback on learning objectives has been good or excellent in most cases If you want a subject presented and know of an appropriate expert professional, contact your local President, Secretary or Education Secretary.

Helen Jones was re-installed at the AGM in April as president for the second successive year. Mark Fowles continued as Deputy President.

CPD activity:

12th November. Enterprise Investment Schemes. Given by the Ingenious Group

3rd December. Environmental Liability. Given by Roger Morgan, Farm & General (a CII sponsored event)

15th January. The Truth about Investment Trusts. Given by Annabel Brody-Smith, The Association of Investment Companies (a CII sponsored event)

4th February. Pension and legislation changes from April 2015. Given by the James Hay Partnership.

25th February. Damage Restoration following catstrophic water ingress. Given by Paul Bradshaw, ISS Facility Services Restoration.

11th March MGAs - Not just another bite of the cherry. An overview of Managing General Agencies, given by Peter Staddon of the MGA Association. (a CII sponsored event)

Social events:

6th November. Annual Quiz night. Our quizmaster Steve Meredith presented his usual menu of brain twisters to a keen group of teams. More than 12 teams of 5 battled it out. Winner were the team from Milne Friend & Partners, who beat the Council team by one point in a play off following a tie.

251 diners from the industry attended the 93rd annual dinner at Sandy Park. CII National President was represented by Grant Scott, CII Vice President with responsibility for local institutes. Guest speaker was Aaron James.
