Renewable Energy Claims

Wednesday, 19 November 2014
12:30 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)

The Insurance & Actuarial Society of Glasgow held a CPD event that focussed on renewable energy and associated technologies.

By attending this seminar members were able to identify:

  • How renewable energy works – wind, solar, hydro, bio-energy
  • Underwriting considerations for renewable energy
  • Where claims arise in connection with renewable energy.

The presentation was delivered by Alistair Cottle, Senior Trading Underwriter for Construction, Power and Engineering at Aviva with a particular interest in renewable energy.

Having worked as a broker for 10 years, Alistair recently switched his attention to underwriting where he believes he brings both perspectives to the table when considering risks and the possible implications to clients.

He is actively engaged with the industry delivering education programs and this is reflected in his own exploits where he has MSc in Psychology, is an Associate with the CII and represents the Edinburgh Insurance Institute on the Education committee.
