Scottish Fire and Rescue Service – Review of Significant Fire Incidents in the UK

The IASG Professional Development Group are happy to announce that their next lunchtime seminar will focus on recent significant fire incidents in the UK and will be delivered by ACO Ross Haggart of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

There have been a large number of significant and high profile incidents, both locally and throughout the UK, during the last 24 months and this seminar will focus on some of these reviewing factors which contributed to the cause and spread of fire.

Learning Objectives:

By attending this event delegates will be able to identify:

• Recent significant fire incidents in the UK;
• Modern methods of construction and importance of fire safety throughout all stages of buildings’ life cycles;
• Benefits of active and passive fire safety measures;
• Role of Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in safety of communities and businesses, and supporting sustainable economic growth.

Speaker Biography:

Assistant Chief Officer Ross Haggart is the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service's Director of Prevention and Protection. In this role Ross is the Service’s national lead on all aspects of community and business safety. Ross also chair’s Scotland’s Building Safer Communities Executive Board, and is a Board member of the Scottish Business Resilience Centre and the National Fire Chiefs Council’s Community Risk Programme.

Ross has served in the Fire and Rescue Service in Scotland for 25 years, and has undertaken a number of operational and senior roles throughout his career.
