Colin Hamling, Head of Insurance for Crossrail

We are delighted to welcome back as our lunch-time speaker for November, Colin Hamling, Head of Insurance for Crossrail. Crossrail is the largest civil engineering project in Europe involving the building of 42km of new mainline railway tunnels beneath the streets of London.

Colin is responsible for all aspects of negotiating and managing the insurance programme, interfacing with the rest of the organisation including contract procurement, insurance of rolling stock procurement, integration with the risk team and claims / loss adjuster management.

Following on from his previous talk, Colin will be giving a general update on the scope of the project and progress to date. He will then take us through one or two examples at specific locations, to drill down on risks and challenges in more depth, to show how Crossrail risk problem solves as an organisation.

Colin was previously London Construction Director at RSA, which included leading the insurance programme for London 2012. He has been FCII since 1975 and regularly participates on Discover Risk initiatives with CII.

The talk will take place at Moore's Hotel Wednesday 12 November 2014 at 12.30pm, (£10 for members of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey and £12 for non-members, including lunch) Do remember that the attendance fee is payable whether lunch is taken or not. Please feel free to encourage non-member colleagues to attend should this be an area of interest but, please note, members of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey will receive priority in the event of capacity being reached.

Attendance will provide 30 minutes of Structured CPD under the Chartered Insurance Institute's CPD scheme.
