We are delighted to welcome as our lunch-time speakers for January, Karen Jenner, Peter Hewitt & Joseph Finbow of FiscalReps.

Karen joined FiscalReps as an insurance consultant with over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. The majority of her career was spent at Chartis responsible for the global insurance programmes of some of the top 100 FTSE companies. In her Client Director role, Karen provides invaluable global technical insurance guidance to FiscalReps.

Peter brings a wealth of VAT knowledge, much of it specific to the insurance industry. After 8 years with HMRC, he spent nearly 25 years in E&Y's indirect tax practice. He is now building a prominent VAT practice serving insurance companies and insurance-related businesses.

Joseph joined FiscalReps from KPMG with 3 years' experience in dealing with global insurance Premium Tax issues. Joseph has been responsible for the delivery of IPT compliance services to captive insurance clients and is a member of FiscalReps' IPT Technical Committee.

Karen, Peter & Joseph presentation concerns the following:

1. Global Risk Insurance Premium Tax

Increase knowledge and understanding of global premium taxes

Understand the implications of non-compliance

Provide the tools to ensure compliance on global insurance programmes

2. VAT - Claims Costs

Should there be VAT on the cost

Who incurs the cost plus VAT

Can claims costs be reduced?

The talk will take place at Moore's Hotel Wednesday 14 January 2015 at 12.30pm, (£10 for members of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey and £12 for non-members, including lunch) Do remember that the attendance fee is payable whether lunch is taken or not. Please feel free to encourage non-member colleagues to attend should this be an area of interest but, please note, members of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey will receive priority in the event of capacity being reached.

Attendance will provide 30 minutes of Structured CPD under the Chartered Insurance Institute's CPD scheme.
