Our next speaker will be Kieran Gallagher ACII FCILA, Executive Director of McLarens UK. Kieran has spearheaded McLarens successful expansion in the Scottish market & has since taken responsibility for the development of the McLarens Real Estate proposition overseeing the implementation and consistent service delivery on key real estate accounts.

Kieran entered the insurance market in 1987 taking on roles in underwriting & claims at AXA (then GRE), & joined a Glasgow loss adjusting firm in 1992. He completed his CILA exams, initially as a licentiate due to early qualification and became a senior adjuster managing a wide range of commercial claims across many business sectors to include the real estate, pharmaceutical, food & drink, agricultural, manufacturing industries, culminating in an Account Management role. Having achieved fellowship status at age 35, his career developed with other practices taking on a variety of managerial roles.

Kieran's presentation will cover:

  • Immediate challenges faced in the aftermath of a Major Fire incident in a multi occupied building
  • Causation & need for appropriate investigation
  • Spread of Fire
  • Repair Options
  • Subrogation Considerations
  • Human factors arising

Key learning points:

  • Attendees will gain a practical insight into how such incidents are handled
  • Challenges faced & perhaps never anticipated at underwriting stage
  • Subrogation exposures which were considered against many entities

The talk will take place at Moore's Hotel Wednesday 17 February at 12.30pm, (£10 for members of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey and £12 for non-members, including lunch) Do remember that the attendance fee is payable whether lunch is taken or not. Please feel free to encourage non-member colleagues to attend should this be an area of interest but, please note, members of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey will receive priority in the event of capacity being reached.

Attendance will provide 30 minutes of Structured CPD under the Chartered Insurance Institute's CPD scheme.
