March lunch

Our March speaker will be Patrick Adamson, Chairman of the MTI Network, the world's leading crisis management and incident response organisation for the maritime, offshore and energy sectors. Having founded MTI Network in 1990 in response to the US Oil Pollution Act, following the Exxon Valdez disaster in Alaska, he has built an organisation that operates in 23 countries and has some 8000 maritime assets directly contracted for incident response. MTI works in partnership with many insurance, financial, cargo chartering and infrastructural interests involved in global trade, protecting reputation and helping to reduce liabilities.

Pat will be looking at the explosive rise of social media and move to greater transparency, which together are bringing risk and financial managers closer to the glare of public scrutiny should something go wrong.

• 67% of journalists spend two hours every day on social media researching their stories
• Look at recent casualties where costly mistakes have been made - especially for the insurer

• Will the digital age bring greater spotlight on advisors and risk carriers when things go
  wrong?
• If we protect reputation, do we also mitigate / deflect liabilities?
• Should risk and financial managers look to protect themselves and / or provide added
  value?

The talk will take place at Moore's Hotel Wednesday 16 March at 12.30pm, (£10 for members of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey and £12 for non-members, including lunch) Do remember that the attendance fee is payable whether lunch is taken or not. Please feel free to encourage non-member colleagues to attend should this be an area of interest but, please note, members of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey will receive priority in the event of capacity being reached.

Attendance will provide 30 minutes of Structured CPD under the Chartered Insurance Institute's CPD scheme.
