February Lunch

Best Western Moores Hotel
Wednesday, 15 February 2017
12:30 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)

Our February speaker will be Emma Bangar, Marketing and Communications Executive as The Insurance Charities. Emma joined The Insurance Charities in early 2016 with the purpose of growing awareness of the charity to reach even more current and former insurance employees and their dependants in need of help a nd support. Please note The Insurance Charities is open for all, not just CII members.

Emma has worked in marketing in the non-profit sector for over twenty years and during this time watched and embraced the emergence of digital marketing. In the last year at The Insurance Charities Emma has overseen the creation of a new website and built on the existing digital platforms.

The Insurance Charities support the insurance industry in the UK & Ireland. Set up in London in 1902 the charity has a long history of helping insurance employees and their dependants. The charity gives out over £1.2m in help each year for items ranging from a new washing machine to paying for life changing surgery not available on the NHS. Of this £1.2m nearly £10k went to people in need in Guernsey.

The charity run an annual awareness week in June, where they ask insurance employers to host a display box in their office for staff to take items including a flyer to learn more about the charity. With todays every changing job market where people may have several jobs and sometimes several careers, it is harder than ever before to reach the people who may benefit from the charities help and support.

Emma’s talk will consider the following key points:

  • Overview of the work the charity carries out
  • How the charity helps people in Guernsey & surrounding areas

The talk will take place at Moore's Hotel Wednesday 15 February at 12.30pm. As this talk is about The Insurance Charities attendees will be charged £10 (whether member or non member). The attendance fees collected will be given to The Insurance Charities.

Attendance will provide 30 minutes of Structured CPD under the Chartered Insurance Institute's CPD scheme.
