PFS Workshop: Understanding Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney by Stephen Oliver, Director of the Will Company

This seminar will consider the importance of making a will and how you can be professionally involved. Other topics covered include: avoiding the rules of intestacy; next generation; and ring-fencing your clients.

Stephen will discuss free re-writes and why he offers them, referrals and income, regulation and insurance. Delegates will hear about lasting Powers of Attorney, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the training required to offer the service profesionally and the service standards you would be expected to provide.

  • how best to use it in their businesses
  • how to enhance the offering safely
  • the potential of offering a will drafting service
  • how to ensure that clients are not left exposed without the necessary documents for their family.

Speaker biography

Stephen Oliver is a former financial adviser with a flair for protection and investment business. Stephen set up The Will Company in 1994 after experiencing poor treatment of a client’s widow in relation to probate, and started writing wills for his own clients.

Each financial adviser he met was keen to have a system that worked and assisted clients, as well as helped protect the estate for generations to come. The Will company grew and now, Stephen is proud to have set up over 25,000 Wills, 8,000 Powers of Attorney and other related products. Stephen deals with over 700 IFA’s across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
