Annual Dinner 2024
We are happy to announce that the Institute’s Annual Dinner will be held on the evening of Friday 1st March 2024 at The The Comis Hotel & Golf Resort, Douglas at 7pm for 7.30pm start. We are delighted to announce that we will be joined in person by Ian Callaghan (President, Chartered Insurance Institute) and CEO & Company Secretary of The Insurance Charities, Annali-Joy Thornicroft. Sustainability & Insurance
ESG (or sustainability depending on your capacity for acronyms!) is a topic that has swept through the business community in recent years, but often the practicalities of how Environmental, Social and Governance considerations map into a business are less well explored. This session aims to discuss what ESG is, how it applies to the insurance industry and insurance professionals, as well as what can be expected in the coming few years in this space. KPMG, represented by Adam Creamore & Matt Hills, will give an overview of this relatively new area to give attendees a basic grounding of the key topics and an opportunity to discuss and ask questions. Private Medical Insurance in a changing landscape
Private medical insurance (PMI) pays some or all your medical bills if you’re treated privately. It gives choice in the level of care you get, and how and when it’s provided. With increasing pressures on national health services across western Europe post-covid, demand for PMI has increased greatly in recent years on a personal and at a corporate level. Property insurance dealing with under insurance
It is estimated that 90% of policies have incorrect sums insured! This presentation looks at the major issue of under insurance in the UK property market and how to help your clients avoid the under-insurance trap. The presentation, delivered by Alan Chandler one of the UK's most popular insurance presenters, will look at what clients actually need to take into account when settling Buildings, Contents and Stock sums insured. Alan will explore why under insurance is so common, the effects of under insurance for the client and why under insurance is an increasing cause of Professional Indemnity claims against brokers. One of the problems is that the figures on the client’s balance sheet are not the same as those required for insurance purposes and Alan will point out the differences so that clients can be warned. The presentation will be in a seminar format where delegates will be able to ask Alan questions at the end of the presentation.

This intensive revision course is designed to help you develop your exam technique and knowledge for the M05 module. This course will help delegates wherever they are in their M05 journey, at the beginning or at the end revising for their multiple-choice examination. Led by one of the UK's foremost insurance trainers, Alan Chandler, the syllabus will be explained in plain English with practical examples. The course, heavily-subsidised by the local Institute, will also include an interactive opportunity to ask Alan about any areas of the syllabus where candidates are stuck.

Writing CII assignments for General Insurance
Alan will explain how to best construct an exam answer for the Diploma and ACII coursework in order to delight the examiner. The session will show delegates how they can make their coursework examples and answers relevant to the question being asked. Alan will also explore how to reference along with learning how to differentiate between the key words of explain, analyse and recommend so that you can make best use of you word count. There will be an opportunity to ask Alan on all things ACII.

Revision Course - IF1 - Insurance, Legal and Regulatory Principles
The course will look at the best exam techniques to use to pass IF1.
