Diversity Champion

The diversity champion will work with the Chartered Insurance Institute to help local councils focus on raising awareness of diversity issues, preventing anti-discriminatory practices and improving inclusiveness. Diversity awareness is an intrinsic part of good ethical practice, which members of a professional body should promote, the CII has an ongoing commitment to ethics and diversity good practice. This is a volunteer role for someone in the industry to is interested in this particular area.

Our diversity champion will work alongside the CII’s Diversity Action Group and the Professional Standards Board. Working with these groups, diversity champions contribute to ensuring that the CII, as a whole, takes a holistic view of diversity and professionalism. The diversity champions meet up to three times a year at the CII Aldermanbury, London office and are invited to attend local institute council meetings.

Tim Allen, diversity champion for the North East, commented: “I applied for one of the regional diversity champion roles as I feel that everyone needs to have a voice or be heard. Being a diversity champion allows me to take ownership of this in my local area. Every single one of our members has their own views, opinions and needs and I am proud to have been given the chance to ensure that no one is excluded.”

The diversity champion role would cover several local institutes in the North West. If you are interested in learning more about becoming our diversity champion, or joining council, please contact our Area Marketing Manager sandra.mcdonald@cii.co.uk
