Former President Edward Lawton Remembered

One of his closest friends, John Calvert, added:

“Many institute members will have met Ted, most likely at the Annual Dinners, of which Ted was always a huge supporter. He served for many years as Toastmaster and through his love of music and laughter, brought much joy and liveliness to these occasions.

Ted served as President in the 1980’s and held various other council positions across the years. Even well into retirement, Ted’s passion for the Institute was steadfast and, having been a member for over 50 years, has certainly seen his fair share of changes over the years.

Ted also raised a lot of money for the Leprosy Mission over several decades, through giving talks and playing concerts as a skilled oboe player.

On a personal but also professional level, and on behalf of the Kendal Institute, I will miss Ted and will be raising a glass to him at the next Annual Dinner.”
