A brief overview of the Insurance Fraud Bureau’s inception, current activity and future strategy, and discuss a case study of a successful IFB investigation.

Learning objectives
By the end of the lecture, delegates will:
• have a greater understanding of the severity and breadth of fraud within the insurance industry
• have clearer sight on the work undertaken by the industry to counter fraudulent activity
• be better informed on the resource available to support counter fraud activity
• have a better insight into how far reaching insurance fraud can facilitate more serious criminal activity

Speaker Biography
Julia Coakley is a Senior Customer Relationship Manager at the Insurance Fraud Bureau, where she has worked for the last 3 and a half years. Julia is the lead contact, and manages the membership requirements of, many General Insurance Companies and is responsible for the introduction of new members through their on-boarding process, and on to the full utilisation of IFB products and services.

Julia joined the insurance industry over 20 years ago and has enjoyed roles within both the broking and underwriting environments, so has a solid understanding of a variety of product lines and trading channels. It was on joining the IFB that really enhanced her understanding of the depth and breadth of fraudulent activity committed against the insurance industry and ignited her passion for ensuring the wider industry takes every opportunity to collaborate against this criminal activity.

Julia has a keen interest in diet and fitness and has worked with a charitable organisation, coaching women into the workplace from positions of disadvantage.
